Richard W. Meredith was born on March 2, 1921. He served as a First Lieutenant and Mission Commander on B-24 #43-73245 that was shot down and crashed near Rangoon, Myanmar (Burma) during World War II. He is now buried in the Masonic Cemetery, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA. 1Lt Meredith was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
