William Langford Nicholson was born on October 3, 1920 in Belvidere, Thayer County, Nebraska. He was the son of Joseph Edgar Nicholson and Talitha C. Owens Still. He served in the US Air Corps as a Corporal and Assistant Engineer of an aircraft during World War II. He died on July 7, 1945 at the age of 24 in Kunming, Yunnan, China and is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. Cpl Nicholson was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
