Thomas J. Noonan, Jr. was born on September 16, 1922 in Brooklyn, Kings County (Brooklyn), New York. He served in the US Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant and during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 13, 1944 at the age of 21 in China and is now buried in the Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale, Suffolk County, New York, USA. 2Lt Noonan was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
