Albert Walker, Jr. served in the US Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant and Bombardier of an aircraft during World War II. Assigned to the 10th Air Force, they were attacked by fifteen to twenty Japanese fighters. After several attacks, Walker's plane had suffered heavy damage and went out of control. It rolled over on it's back and and dived straight into the ground from 11,000 feet. Two of the other planes were shot down as well. Albert is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA in a common grave with his crew.
Second Lieutenant Walker was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
