Lyle Jack White was born on August 6, 1918 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of James Edward White and Edith May Watkins White. He served in the 14th US Air Force as a Lieutenant during World War II. He died on September 7, 1944 in China at the age of 26 and is now buried in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, USA. LT White was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
