Theodore Fuller Young was born on June 5, 1920 Roxbury, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Phil Clayton Young and Nettie Rebecca Fuller Young. Ted grew up first in the Moosehead Lake area of Maine, then later moved with his family to Foxboro, Massachusetts. Attended college in St. Petersburg, Florida, before enlisting in the US Air Force during World War 2. Married to Mary Alice Fox.

Young was the co-pilot on B-24 #42-73059, assigned to the 10th Air Force, 7th Bombardment Group, 493rd Bombardment Squadron. They were part of a six plane formation to bomb the town of Pakokku. Shortly after dropping their bombs, they were attacked by fifteen to twenty Japanese fighters and a fierce battle ensued. Young's and two other planes were shot down. They crash landed just west of the Chindwin River, about sixty miles south of Mandalay. Theodore is now buried in the Raleigh National Cemetery, Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, USA in a common grave with his crew.

2Lt Young was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but his name is inscribed with a Jr. suffix.
