When George Hillias was born on November 22, 1921, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, his father, Theadore, was 32 and his mother, Aphrodite, was 25. He had three children with Lillian Kosty. George was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. He died on August 7, 2010, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the age of 88. His current burial place is unknown.
