When Angelo H. Kaleyias was born on March 15, 1919, in Albania, his father, Haralambos, was 31 and his mother, Hariklia, was 23. He enlisted in the Army on March 2, 1942 in New Jersey. Angelo was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. He married Anastasia Thanos on November 24, 1946, in District of Columbia. They had one child during their marriage. He died on February 23, 2002, in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, at the age of 82. His current burial place is unknown.
