Homer Raymond Bailey was born on September 6, 1918, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Bailey of Ardmore, OK. He attended Ardmore High School and served 3 years in the 45th Div., OK Natl. Guard. He enlisted on March 13, 1940, receiving his training at Ft. Sam Houston. He then served 4 years in the Pacific Theater and participated in the Battle of Corregidor with Battery H, 59th Coast Artillery (Harbor Defense), Coast Artillery Corps. Homer was wounded on May 2, 1942 and captured by the Japanese on May 7, 1942. He was held in POW Camp 10-A and died on Dec. 14, 1944 at the Japanese Prison Camp on Puerta Princessa, Palawa, Philippine Islands. He is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri.
