Carroll F. Redding was born on April 30, 1919 in Maryland. He was the son of Aaron Israel Redding and Florence E. Kerchner Redding. Carroll resided in Carroll County, Maryland prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on May 28, 1941, prior to the war, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a brick and stone mason and also as Single, without dependents. Carroll served as a Private First Class, Company E, 503rd Parachute Infantry, U.S. Army during World War II. He was Killed in Action on February 18, 1945 at the age of 25, during the battle for the recapture of Corregidor, Philippines against the defending Japanese garrison on the island and is now buried in the Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. He also has a cenotaph located in United Church of Christ Cemetery, Manchester, Carroll County, Maryland.
