2ndLt Delbert Schmid, pilot of the P-38 Lightning 42-104173 "Wee Willy", was shot down by flak at 2119 near the Bellai farm at Montaigue-les-Bois, 7 km northwest of Villedieu-les-Poêles. Although initially surviving the crash, he was killed while evacuating St-Charles-de-Percy with the civilian population. ABMC marks his death as July 3rd, 1944. He also has a cenotaph located in Mokane Cemetery, Mokane, Callaway County, Missouri.
