Alfred M. Shearer, Jr. was born on November 12, 1921. He served in the 350th Bomber Squadron, 100th Bomber Group, Heavy as a First Lieutenant during World War II. A Navigator on B-17 Cahepit #42-31074, he died when their plane was hit by a flak and crashed in Switzerland on August 19, 1944 at the age of 22. He was temporarily buried in what was then the American Cemetery in Münsingen, Switzerland. His final resting place is in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
