Lloyd W. Nash was born in Westport, Fairfield County, Connecticut on May 29, 1917. His parents were Edward Colt Nash (15 Feb 1887 – 1971) and Anna Barbara (Ebel) Nash (1889 – 16 Feb 1954). In 1930 the family lived at 2 Kings Highway, Westport, Connecticut. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, and in the summer of 1942 was stationed at Fletcher Field in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He later commanded the Army Air Corps training base there. He met his wife, Anita (Jackson) Nash (10 Sep 1920 – 8 Jun 2011), while stationed at Fletcher Field, and they married on November 25, 1943.

In August 1944, he was assigned as a pilot and air leader in the 836th Bomb Squadron of the 487th Bomb Group (Heavy) at Army Air Forces Station 137 near Lavenham, Suffolk, England. His unit was part of the 8th U.S. Army Air Force in Europe. He was killed in action on December 24, 1944, when his aircraft, B-17G 44-8121, was shot down by German fighters south of Liege, Belgium. He bailed out, but his parachute malfunctioned. He was found dead in a stone quarry near Comblain-au-Pont, about 20 miles south of Liege, Belgium. His nine crewmates survived.

His remains were returned to the United States and reinterred at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport, Connecticut on June 23, 1949.
