Edgar Lee Seitz was born on March 16, 1923 in Indiana. He was the son of Walter Wesley Seitz and Ina May Cain Seitz. He resided in Spencer County, Indiana prior to the war.

Edgar served as a Staff Sergeant and Left Waist Gunner on B-17 "Dorsal Queen" #42-30264, 551st Bomber Squadron, 385th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. His plane, while on a return mission from Reims, France, was involved in a mid-air collision with B-17 #42-3290 "Raunchy Wolf" also known as "El Lobo." They crashed at Tillingham Hall Farm, Bulphan, England. The entire crews of both B-17's were killed except Ssgt John J. Adams of the Dorsal Queen who was the only survivor.

SSGT Seitz is now buried in the New Albany National Cemetery, New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana, USA.
