John J. Adams served as a Staff Sergeant and Tail Gunner on the B-17 "Dorsal Queen" #42-30264, 551st Bomber Squadron, 385th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. His plane, while on a return mission from Reims, France, was involved in a mid-air collision with B-17 #42-3290 "Raunchy Wolf" also known as "El Lobo." The entire crews of both B-17's were killed except Ssgt Adams who was the only survivor.
