Morton R. Savage was born in 1924 in Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Friends Central and Bartram High School and was attending Pennsylvania State College when he enlisted in 1942.
Morton served in the 334th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was killed in a flight accident on February 11, 1945, piloting the P-51 Mustang #44-13982. Returning from a strafing mission, he was forced to land at Wattisham, England, due to poor weather. After 3.5 hours, he headed to Debden but was unable to land due to ground haze. Overshooting Debden, he attempted to return to Wattisham but struck a radio tower at RAF Radar Station Barkway and was killed instantly.
1Lt Savage is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
