John J. O'Mara entered military service in Connecticut. He served in the 9th Field Hospital as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on December 27, 1944, in Verviers, Belgium, when his station was directly hit by a VI Flying Bomb during the Battle of the Bulge. PFC O'Mara is now buried in the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
