George M. Willets entered military service in New York. He served in Combat Command "B," 5th Armored Division as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on December 27, 1944, in Verviers, Belgium, when his station was directly hit by a VI Flying Bomb during the Battle of the Bulge. 1Lt Willets is now buried in the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
