William E. Walker was born on March 8, 1924, in Collidge, Texas. He was the son of Jesse F. Walker and Lillie Mae Baker Walker.

William served in the 753rd Bomber Squadron, 458th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Engineer on the B-24 #42-94811 “Tommy Thumper II” during World War II. He was Killed in Action during a training flight on January 22, 1945, in Old Catton, England. Attempting to return to the airfield, the four-motored bomber lost power and crashed just southeast of modern-day Norwich International Airport.

Sgt Walker is now buried in the Bryan City Cemetery, Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, USA.
