Franklin Charles “Frank” Wassow was born in 1917 in Missouri. He was the son of Emil Charles Wussow.
Frank served in the 753rd Bomber Squadron, 458th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Assistant Armorer/Gunner on the B-24 #42-94811 “Tommy Thumper II” during World War II. He was Killed in Action during a training flight on January 22, 1945, in Old Catton, England. Attempting to return to the airfield, the four-motored bomber lost power and crashed just southeast of modern-day Norwich International Airport.
Sgt Wassow is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
