Grant Donald Ordiway was born on July 6, 1922, in Mount Jewett, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Jesse Grant Ordiway and Lura Elaine Douglass Ordiway.

Grant attended public schools at Hazelhurst. Inducted into the service on December 8, 1942, he arrived overseas in November 1944. He served in the 753rd Bomber Squadron, 458th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Gunner on the B-24 #44-40281 "A Dog's Life” during World War II. He was Killed in Action during a training mission on February 13, 1945, in Old Catton, England.

Sgt Ordiway is now buried in the Clarion Cemetery, Clarion, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, USA.
