James Chaney Palms was the son of Francis and Emeline Chaney Palms; nephew of Mr. H. Chaney, of Portland, Oregon. James served in the Essex Scottish Regiment, R.C.I.C., as a Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action in the Dieppe Raid in France on August 19, 1942, and he is now buried in the Dieppe Canadian War Cemetery, France
