Henry Cooper Scott was born on June 14, 1921, in La Follette, Tennesse. He was the son of Maurice Seaman Scott and Minnie Hackney Scott.
Henry served in the 359th Fighter Squadron, 356th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot on the #44-15280 'Princess Jocelyn' 'Flying Dutchman' during World War II. On February 25, 1945, 2Lt Scott's airplane was hit by flak during a strafing pass on enemy territory. He reported no oil pressure and headed west, climbing to 4,000 feet. His aircraft was smoking but not on fire. He jettisoned his canopy as if in preparation to bail out, then started gliding down to a small field for a belly landing. The aircraft struck the ground at about a 20' dive, exploding as it struck.
2Lt Scott is now buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France.
