Robert Lincoln "Bob" Dawn was born on October 22, 1921, in San Francisco, California. He served in the 394th Fighter Squadron, 367th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot on the P-38 #42-67268 during World War II. On August 25, 1944, he took off from A-2 Cricqueville Airfield on a mission to Clastres airfield in France. Around 1:15 PM, he was shot down by FW 190 fighters, and successfully he bailed out of the plane. He landed near the Condren canal. He was kept by the Bachelet family in Viry-Noureuil - Chauny network until liberation.
