Stanley S. Smith was born on May 19, 1919, in Springfield, Pennsylvania. He was married to Myrtice Alma Hutcherson.
Stanley served in the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, as a Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, in Sainte-Mère-Église, France, by a grenade that was hit by German artillery fire shrapnel. This grenade exploded in the pocket of his comrade, killing Sgt Smith and three other paratroopers.
Sgt Smith is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
