Robert Lee Ravey was born on September 24, 1918, in Granger, Texas. He was the son of Fletcher Emil Anthony Ravey and Amy Ruth McConnell Ravey.

At the time of his death, Robert was serving in the 561st Artillery Battalion as a First Lieutenant and Observer on a Piper L-4H during World War II. He was Killed in Action when his plane crashed on August 10, 1944, during a reconnaissance mission. His plane was shot down by flak and crashed in Tréméreuc, France. 1Lt Ravey is now buried in the Oakwood Cemetery, Jacksboro, Jack County, Texas, USA.
