James Milton Gilbert was born on September 21, 1922, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in 1943 and served in the HQ Company, 289th Infantry Regiment, 75th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on December 25, 1944, in Grandménil, Belgium, during the Battle of the Bulge.
