Kevin Douglas Low was born in Dawson Creek on April 24, 1949, and lived In various communities in B.C. before coming with the family to Vancouver. He graduated from Lord Byng Secondary School in 1967, and in January of the following year joined the United States Army. He took his basic training at Fort Lewis, Wash., and then was sent to the helicopter school at Fort Rucker, Alabama, from which he graduated as a helicopter mechanic.

At the time of his death, Sgt Low was serving as a Sergeant in the 15th Transportation Corps Battalion, 1st Air Cavalry Division. On June 28, 1969, he died of wounds from an artillery rocket/mortar in Binh Long, South Vietnam.
