Robert James Scott was born on February 14, 1940, in Canada. He was the husband of Joan A. Scott of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Robert arrived for duty in Vietnam on December 28, 1966, where he was assigned to and served with C Company, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division, USARV.
On August 8, during a combat operation north of the song Rach Tra some 6 kilometers south of Phu Cuong in Binh Duong Province, elements of the 14th Infantry made contact with the enemy. During the ensuing firefights, six men were killed in the action, one of the casualties was SSgt Scott as a result of hostile rifle fire.
