Allan Wayne Persicke was born on January 25, 1949, in Hamilton, Hamilton Municipality, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Minnie Louise (Adams) Sando of Benton Harbor; and Wayne A. Persicke of Coloma, Michigan. He was the brother of Diane Persicke Morris; stepson to Elmer Sando; stepbrother to Andrew J.; Peter J. Sando, and Darren Persicke of Watervliet, Michigan.
The Persicke family moved to Yorktown, Saskatchewan, before relocating to the Saint Joseph area of Michigan. The parents eventually divorced, with the children living with their mother, who eventually remarried. Allan was a 1967 graduate of Benton Harbor High School and was employed as a draftsman at Clark Equipment Company before he entered service in the US Army. Upon completion of training, he was ordered for duty in Vietnam, arriving in the country on November 16, 1968, where he was assigned to and served with HHC Company, 1st Engineers, 1st Infantry Division, USARV.
On September 7, the Base Camp in Binh Duong Province was hit by several enemy rockets which killed SP4 Persicke by the exploding shrapnel.
