Gary William Purcell was born on October 27, 1948. He was the son of William Francis Purcell and Margaret Louise Purcell.
Arriving in Vietnam on April 19, 1968, Gary was
assigned to K Company, 3rd Battalion, 27th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Gary died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the head and body from a hostile mortar fire during Operation Allen Brook.
