Thearon Ott Ivy was born on August 22, 1921, in Mason County, Texas. He was the son of James Ott Ivy and Mary I. Murray Ivy.
Thearon served in the 831st Bomber Squadron, 485th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Private and Top Turret Gunner on the B-24H #42-52709 "Gawgia Peach" during World War II.
On June 13, 1944, his crew took off from Venosa, Italy, to bomb the ordnance depot at Milbertshofen north of Munich, Germany. Shot down by German ME109s, their aircraft crashed near Sillertshausen at about 11:00 hrs. All members were able to parachute out of the plane. According to German researcher Marcus Siebler, Pvt. Ivy had been in hiding for three days after the crash before he finally surrendered to a farmer in Geierlambach near Kirchdorf. After the Nazi administration of Freising became aware of the airman, he was shot by an unknown perpetrator or perpetrators. No trial proceedings pertaining to this murder have been found.
