He served in Company D, 712th Tank Battalion, 90th Infantry Division, as a Technician 5th Grade during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 27, 1944, in Périers, France, in a bomb explosion when the tank he was in ran over a booby trap. He is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
