Marvin Alexander Simko was born on September 28, 1921, in Lakeside, Ottawa County, Ohio. He was the son of John Simko and Pauline Henrietta Gassan Simko.

Marvin attended Port Clinton High School and Portage Township School, Gupsum. He had two years of high school, had a civil occupation as a stock clerk, and was single without dependents upon enlistment. He was employed by the War Department prior to his enlistment.

Marvin entered military service in Toledo, Ohio. He served in Company C, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a Technician 5th Grade during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 22, at Pointe de la Percée, during the American assault on Omaha Beach in France. T5 Simko is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
