Francis Joseph Menshek was born on July 2, 1914. He was the son of Frank F. Menshek and Margaret Mary Sullivan Menshek.
Francis served in the 12 (R.A.F.) Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 9, 1942, when his Wellington aircraft # Z 8409, which took off from RAF Binbrook at 0204LT on an operation to Essen, Germany, was shot down over The Netherlands by a German fighter and crashed in Dreumel. Five crew members were killed and the sixth became PoW.
