Thomas Lloyd Joseph Norrie was born on May 5, 1918, in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts. He was the husband of Phyllis Jane Clegg Cadwalader.

Thomas served in the #23 Operational Training Unit as a Flight Sergeant during World War II. On June 2, 1942, aboard the Vickers Wellington Bomber R1266, his crew took off from RAF Stradishall, Haverhill, Suffolk, England, as part of the second thousand bomber raid on Essen. The aircraft crashed near the Terwindt Brickyard at Kerkdriel (Gelderland) in the Providence of Noord-Brabant. To this day, it is unclear whether the aircraft was shot down or suffered mechanical failure. All five crew members were killed and are all buried in Uden War Cemetery.
