Roger Edwin Vanderbeck was born on March 6, 1915, in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. He was the son of Edwin F. and Helen Franz Vanderbeck.
Roger served in the 424 Tiger Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Warrant Officer Second Class during World War II. He was declared Missing in Action on July 13, 1943, when his Wellington aircraft #HE 963 failed to return from operations. Pilot Officer Pilot Mang has no known grave, his name is inscribed on the Malta War Memorial, Malta.
