Vernon Frederick Wunsch served in the 149 (R.A.F.) Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 25, 1944, when his crew took off at 23h25 of June 24th from RAF Methwold on a mission to attack the V1 site in Ruisseauville, France. Shot down by a night fighter, their aircraft disintegrated on the ground without being able to maneuver and crashed at the commune of Lisbourg.
