Harmon Matthew Gilstrap was born on May 11, 1920. He was the son of Nancy Katherine "Kate" Thompson Gilstrap. He was married to Inez Ross Gilstrap.
He served in Company A, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Corporal during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
