Carl Clarence Desgranges was born on April 17, 1891, in Defiance, Defiance County, Ohio. He was the son of Charles H. Desgranges and Margaret "Maggie" Desgrange.
He served in the 2nd Battalion of a Field Artillery Replacement Regiment, as a Private during World War I. He died of disease on September 27, 1918, in the hospital La Courneau, Camp Hunt in France. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
