Francis John “Frank” Kent was born on March 1887, in Liskeard, Cornwall Unitary Authority, Cornwall, England. He was the son of John Henry Kent and Mary Ann Quick Kent.

He served in the headquarters Company, 348th Infantry Regiment, 87th Division, as a Private during World War I. He died from influenza and pneumonia on November 1, 1918, in the hospital La Courneau, Camp Hunt in France. He was buried at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Montclair, Essex County, New Jersey, USA.
