Forest Glenn Messner was born on July 29, 1894. He was the son of Cyrus Messner and Elizabeth Messner. He was married to Anna Lehman Messner. He was the father of Stanley Raymond Messner.
Messner received his education in rural schools and was employed as a farmer before he entered the service. He was one of the group of 254 to go to Camp Jackson, South Carolina. He served in the 4th Battery of Field Artillery Replacement Regiment, as a Private during World War I. He died from bronchial pneumonia on October 24, 1918, in the hospital La Courneau, Camp Hunt in France. He was buried at Apple Creek Cemetery, Apple Creek, Wayne County, Ohio, USA.
