Edward Joseph Chuhak was born on June 25, 1912, in Cook County, Illinois. He was the son of Michael Chuhak and Frances Chuhak. He was married to Sophie Chuhak.

He served in Company A, 167th Engineer Combat Battalion as a Private First Class during World War II. Pfc. Chuhak was Killed in Action on August 21, 1944, during the liberation of Bellegarde in France. He was buried at Saint Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Niles, Cook County, Illinois, USA.
