Hubert G. Roberts served in Company B, 82nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Armored Division, as a Private during World War II. Pvt Roberts was declared Missing in Action on July 27, 1944, in the vicinity of Quibou, France. He was engaged in a combat operation against three German tanks while aboard an M8 Greyhound armored car. He is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing, Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart in recognition of his bravery and sacrifices.
