Charles R. Williams was born on February 27, 1922, in Natrona, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He served in the 47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 20, 1944, during the liberation of Teurthéville-Hague. PFC Williams is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart in recognition of his bravery and sacrifices.
