Guido Nehemiah D'Elia was born on October 26, 1923, in Hillsville, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Pasquale D'Elia and Angelina Profeta D'Elia. He was employed at the Middletown Air Depot before entering the armed forces in January 1943.

Guido served in the 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 3, 1944, during the liberation of Pont Farcy in France. PFC D'Elia is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
