Joseph Mathew Lamuth was born on November 5, 1912, in Kellogg, Shoshone County, Idaho. He was the son of Joseph P. LaMuth and Mamie K. (Thompson) Lamuth.
Joseph served in the 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division, as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 3, 1944, during the liberation of Pont Farcy in France. SSgt Lamuth is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France. He was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
