Alfred Aloysious Simon was born on October 21, 1916, in Kansas. Alfred served in the 320th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 3, 1944, during the liberation of Pont Farcy in France. PFC Simon is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France. He also has a memorial marker at the St Marks Cemetery in Saint Marks, Kansas. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
