Cal Edison Bailey was born on November 29, 1920, in Crisp County, Georgia. He was the son of Seldon Edison Bailey and Minnie Lou Cook Bailey. Cal served in the 47th Infantry Battalion, 5th Armored Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 10, 1944, during the liberation of Marolles, France. PFC Bailey is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Departement de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
