Woodrow Wilson Hamilton was born on November 11, 1913, in Maple Creek, Maple Creek Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was the son of Robert Sydney Hamilton and Zua Wylie Hamilton.

Woodrow served in the 137th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was declared Missing in Action on November 23, 1944, during a battle in Diffembach-lès-Hellimer, France. PFC Woodrow was officially declared dead on November 24, 1945. His name is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing in Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, Departement de la Moselle, Lorraine, France.
